How to Participate

Who may participate?

The Triumph Inspiration Award challenges students around the world to use their talent, creativity, and inspiration to create a unique lingerie showpiece, consisting of a bra and brief set or a one-piece body, as an interpretation of a design theme. Only students enrolled in a design school may enter the competition.

How is the contest organized?

The TIA is divided into two levels: national and international. First, participants must compete in a national competition in which their concepts and prototypes are up against other students from their schools or from other prestigious design institutes in their country. The challenge: convince the judges that his or her inspirational concept best represents this year’s theme, “125 Years of Celebrating Women”. The winner of each National Final automatically qualifies for the International Grand Final.

What happens at the Grand Final?

At the International Grand Final, each unique creation is presented to the international press and judged by a panel of world-renowned experts from across the fields of fashion, design and media in Berlin in July 2011. The jury selects one winner from the pool of international finalists.

What are the prizes?

Winning the national contest is the participant’s ticket to the Grand Final in Berlin. A victory at the international Grand Final could take the up-and-coming designer just about anywhere. For starters, Triumph will interpret and realize the winning showpiece as a commercial garment. See below more about the prizes.

The national and international jury will judge all entries according to the same criteria:

  • Innovative and creative interpretation of the theme, “125 Years of Celebrating Women”
  • Individuality and uniqueness
  • Concept
  • Aesthetics
  • Quality in design and execution
  • Presentation

Inspiration and creativity are the core of this Award: although quality of work will of course be considered, it is more important to us that you feel completely free to express your thoughts and ideas through your design.

This is an Inspiration Award – not a Perfection Award!

Please note that the jury members are responsible for selecting the winners. Their decisions at both the National and the International Finals are final and cannot be challenged.

The winners of the National Finals automatically move on to the next stage, the Grand Final in Berlin. The national juries may also award the second and third place prizes of their choice.
