SAKS Sint-Niklaas

It takes a lot of effort to study in the department of ‘fashion’. The structure begins with fashion-figure drawing. After that, students start experimenting with non-processed cotton and then head onto new fabric textures. Students then  work around historical costumes, ethnic groups; theme’s that students pick themselves.  Every piece of clothing is the result of in-depth research. At the end of the course we learn how to put together a portfolio that students can use to present to the fashion world that they are able to create their own collection independently. The absolute climax is the presentation of the finalised collection at an original location which ends in an overwhelming and highly appreciated fashion show with national appeal.

Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten Dendermonde

KASK Dendermonde is situated in the province of East Flanders. This school offers different possibilities from sculpture, photographic art, ceramics, to fashion  theater costumes.     http://www.tekenacademiedendermonde.be/

Stedelijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten Berchem & Instituut Roger Avermaete

In the fashion workshop you learn to design contemporary fashion clothing into a traditional manner. Seasons, atmospheres and world events affect your work and create a global vision of fashion.

Students always begin with a subject on which they first base their clothing, and then basing their clothing on their whole collection: a flower, a car, a planet or the Chrysler Building in New York. Students design for young and old, men and women.
In the first years, much importance is attached to figure drawing. Students discover the anatomy of the human body to better understand and display postures and movements. Simultaneously they work on their own drawing styles.

Besides that,  design students also learn to realize creations. Their first designs for clothing are run out of cotton bales whilst learning the basics for creating a pattern. Gradually other materials are used as it is required in their designs.

In the degree of specialization the focus relies more and more on the finishing touches and final  presentation to an audience. At the conclusion of the school training, students can show their creativity and technical skills in their own made collection. This can then become the business card for their future as an assistant to a fashion designer, as an independent stylist, or as an assistant in fashion magazines.

Department of Fashion Design

We deeply emphasize the observation of culture in which students engage and immerse themselves in, starting from their first day. It becomes extremely necessary to form these students into Professionals by devoting in topics of history and the unforeseen possibilities of today. Following that, the creative expansion becomes a relevant part.

Our commitment has been clear since the beginning.
Design is not only learned … It is understanding, reasoning, thinking in itself and oftentimes the judgment, that finally Design is conceived.

The process "seems to be effortless" but however “Nothing is ever what it seems”, therefore the Design is not exempt to this conclusion. The elements of creativity are many but we especially place emphasis on the value to be ourselves and to be able to choose, to be creative, to possess our own techniques.

We invite teachers, authorities, workers, collaborators and students to being CREATIVE and appealing in the mind and heart to strive higher in their goals. Our task is to help in the best way to develop the creative potential, to explore new habits, to immerse them in culture of the most diverse roots and finding that in the way of diversity they find their “own way of identity”.

ModArt

We offer an in-depth education with workshops, lectures, case studies and meetings with working people from the field. Our fashion school teaches designers a versatile, wide range of skills and produces knowledgeable students, who are able to understand and control the process of clothes manufacturing right the way through to sale. Our students can do this creatively in many different sectors, such as luxury goods, womenswear, menswear and childrens clothing as well as lingerie and accessories. The 3-year course includes all of these. Our school trains and creates designers, but it also gives them an introduction to clothes manufacturing knowledge. The designer is not a dressmaker, but needs to know the basic clothes making techniques and has to be able to communicate with those who are responsible for physically producing the collection. The students must also be able to make patterns and technical drawings. They are regularly visited by representatives in the fashion industry and therefore gain valuable insights to the world of fashion.

Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow

The Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow is the oldest Polish institution of higher education in arts. It was founded in 1818 and originally functioned as the School of Drawing and Painting at the Department of Literature of the Jagiellonian University (founded in 1364). Having become an independent unit in 1873, it was renamed the School of Fine Arts and the position of its director was taken over by a distinguished Polish historical painter Jan Matejko (1838-1893), the present patron of the Academy, who significantly contributed to the formation of Krakow's artistic circles and educated many prominent graduates. After his death, an important role was played by the first rector, Julian Fałat, an outstanding landscape painter. Fałat became renowned as the reformer of the school, which then obtained the status of an institution of higher education and the name of the Academy of Fine Arts. In the period when the European art was predominated by Modernism, the Faculty of Painting had the most distinguished Polish artists as teachers; among them were Leon Wyczółkowski, Teodor Axentowicz, Stanisław Wyspiański, Jacek Malczewski, Jan Stanisławski and Józef Mehoffer, and later, after 1905, Józef Pankiewicz, Ferdynand Ruszczyc and Wojciech Weiss. At that time, the Academy became the main centre of Polish artistic life. After Poland regained independence (1918), the Paris Committee (later known as the Branch of the Krakow Academy in Paris) was organized and significantly contributed to the development and promotion of Polish art. Moreover, attempts were made to create separate faculties at the Academy. After World War II, Krakow was home to two institutions of higher education in arts. After their merger in 1950, the Academy of Visual Arts was established (since 1979, the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts). The school has continued to develop in terms of its structure, teaching staff, fields of study and methods of instruction. It has remained faithful to its splendid tradition and, at the same time, open to challenges and needs of the contemporary times. The Academy of Fine Arts teaches painters, sculptors, graphic artists, interior, industrial and fashion designers, as well as stage designers and art conservators of high standing; it effectively co-creates Polish culture and promotes it all over the world, wherever its numerous graduates or teachers and their works go.

Thailand

Chulalongkorn University

A Brief History of Chulalongkorn University Chulalongkorn University, Thailand's first institution of higher learning, officially came into being in March, 1917.  The groundwork and preparation for it in terms of planning and development, however, took place more than a century ago. The worldwide economic, social and political changes in the late nineteenth century contributed to Siam's decision to adapt herself in order to avoid being colonized by the Western powers (“Siam” became “Thailand” in the year 1939). Thus King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) has royal policy to strengthen and improve government so that the country could successfully resist the tide of colonialism. One of the major parts of the policy, which would later prove to be deep-rooted and highly effective, was to improve the Siamese educational system so as to produce capable personnel to work in both the public and private sectors. As a result, a school was founded in 1871 at the Royal Pages Barrack within the Grand Palace compound.

RMIT Vietnam

RMIT Vietnam is the Asian hub of RMIT University, headquartered in Melbourne, Australia.

RMIT University has made a strategic commitment to develop as a “twin hub” university, with its Vietnam campuses linking Melbourne, Australia strongly to the Asian region.

In line with this long term commitment, RMIT Vietnam is increasingly developing more diverse academic programs, regionally based research projects, new business and government partnerships, and growing numbers of students and academics moving between RMIT Vietnam and campuses elsewhere in the region.

Internship placements with industry give RMIT Vietnam students valuable on-the-job experience and help them put theory into practice.

Industry placements are also valuable for networking purposes, and often lead to employment opportunities after graduation.
